The dreaded no start problem
I have a 92 Zr-1 and lately when I go somewhere usually at night and park for an hour or so I get in and nothing, no starter. If you do nothing for 10minutes bingo it will start usually, until lastnight... I checked some wires cleaned terminals etc and had been good for almost 2 weeks and then it did it again. I waited 10 minutes and still nothing. Luckily now after a little education from c4guru website I put in my stashed paperclip and went into diagnostics. The fuel was enabled so not a VATS problem. I went to CCM 1.4 and looked at test 12 the starter relay and noticed it was OFF (with key in ignition) then rocked the car and it was on for a second. I noticed it was then toggling on and off but no start. It was doing all this without my foot on the clutch; which I wonder does that eliminate the clutch switch?
Well at least I knew it was a starter circuit problem and not VATS, so I then successfully jumpstarted the car. Any insight on troubleshooting start circuit problem without blindly throwing parts at it and or ripping the plenum off unless nessary. Thanks greg |
