MD Emissions Testing
In 2008, just after getting the Haibeck 500Hp top end package I had to get the car emissions tested. I was lucky in that they elected to do the tail pipe test rather than the rolling dyno test. The results were:
FY 2008 Hydrocarbons (HC) Carbon Monoxide (CO) - MD State Standard:......... 220 PPM..............1.20 PCT - Inspection Reading:..........121 PPM................00 PCT In 2008 in that they looked under the car (with mirrors), checked the gas tank inlet size, and looked under the hood. This year I drove in, they hooked the car up, checked the tank inlet size, and in a few minutes I drove out. With 6K more miles on the odometer the results were: FY 2010 Hydrocarbons (HC) Carbon Monoxide (CO) - MD State Standard:......... 200 PPM..............1.00 PCT - Inspection Reading:.......... 57 PPM.................00 PCT It appears a vehicle 20 years and older can be registered as Historic in Maryland which also means they are exempt from emissions testing. My build date was 10-1990 so it looks like if I go ahead and register as Historic, this could be the last emissions test for my Z. |
