Default SPARK PLUGS SPLITFIRE OR NOT.

Guys, I purchased a set of Splitfire triple platium plugs.
Are they good or not, they say to gap em .50.
I also was wondering is it normal to have some oil around the plugs where they seat in the block? The plugs are burning a nice slight brown color on the electrode.
Thanks
RAY

My OE plugs had oil on the threads to stop them seizing in the holes, is that where you saw the oil?

Don't laugh but I bought the straight GM replacement plugs for the FR2LS's that came in my car from the factory and they work fine for my 90. They are just the standard plug, no trick stuff, no plat. tips because 90's didn't have those. I pulled them after 8K miles to see & they are clean as new except for the brownish tint on the center insulator...any way they were cheap and the motor seems to be fine with the straight GM plug.

I would think that would be the case with the oil, nothing on the electrode just the upper threads.

The oil is normal. I have the original type Splitfire with about 14k miles and going.

according to my owm experience, the splitfire spark plugs are a waste of time and money...the spark will absolutely not split, and the thread is of poor quality, messing up with the thread in your heads...keep your money, and buy a keg for the next reunion.

I assume this is true. After many miles, my plugs have approx 95% of wear on one prong, indicating the current didnt travel much through the other side. Even when it did, it probably only did on the one prong and not on the other prong and not both (split).
Splitfire had a lawsuit and lost, thereby backing our assessments.
I have no problem with the treads, although they arent coated and can rust if exposed. More of an issue for other engines.
I got mine for free, so cost wasnt an issue.
Deciding on plug brands, types and gaps is over analyzed by too many. The stock plugs are basically the best.

I like the NGK and deno iridium plugs. they don't foul, idle a bit better and have a nice spark. generall spark plugs only cost hp they don't typically gain much. if the mixture is fully lit, that's all you need.
