Alternator Rebuild

I have an old GM alternator (out of 94 ZR-1) that failed 3 years ago. I am thinking about rebuilding this unit myself. It seems there were 105 and 120 amp versions. Any way to verify which version? Is the casing the same?
Has anyone tried this?
Any pit falls or advice?

I rebuilt one for my 1986, was not a difficult job. Typically the bearings just go. Just need to be careful pressing the bearings out and in. Also need to make sure you orient the casting the same way when you reassemble it.

Checking around I found out, at least for 94 and 95 model year, these are Delco CS144 type.
My alternator basically has a failing failure. I found a rebuild kit on e-bay that comes with "all new components, including a new rectifier good for applications up to 150 amps., a 6303-2RS drive end bearing, a new slip ring end, needle bearing, 12 volt voltage regulator, and a brush set complete with holder & springs" for $45.

I will give this a try.Also, I found new CS144s at $170, if anyone is interested.
