Radiator
Well maybe this is somewhat out of place but what else is new.
I just replaced my radiator on a ford escort. (May I add this radiator was clean no debris whatsoever) 28.00 ebay lifetime warranty yadayada. There was nothing wrong with the old one but engine ran very warm at times. At 65mph this car would eventually reach 240 with fan running constantly. After this radiator was replaced the engine now runs at 160 fan Off at 65mph. With stock corvette radiators availe for our cars at 120$ I think its safe to say that its a pretty good investment to do a fresh radiator swap and watch the temp drop. =D>

Re: Radiator
Yep, when I do the cooling system this winter I will add a new radiator along with a new thermostat and the Samco hoses.
Corvette Recycling has the radiators for $100. http://www.corvetterecycling.com/199...p/52473260.htm

Re: Radiator
I just bought a oem radiator, and I noticed right away that the atf cooler seems to be blocking about 90% of the flow at the inlet/outlet connector should I be concerned??

Re: Radiator
Well maybe. The side tanks are removable- hence so is the AT cooler portion.

Re: Radiator
I was having cooling issues with my '91 ZR-1 with 65K miles. The OEM radiator was about 75% blocked to airflow due to debris between the fins, who knows what it looked like inside. Replaced with the OEM replacement, and yes, the ATF cooler blocks the inlet, but it doesn't hurt the car's ability to run cool. I haven't seen the temp gauge even reach the middle, while stopped in traffic in 95 degree heat.

Re: Radiator
Well for giggles I just went out and took the side tank off the radiator I pulled. It has the unused trans cooler. All this is on the escort radiator (90% as large as the corvette's) its a hollow tube that runs 3/4 of the length of the side tank. It popped right out. You would have to find a way to seal the side tank once the AT cooler is out.
Since the NOS radiators availe are Gm products I would think the side tanks are interchangeable. The Factory service manual covers pulling these tanks and replacing the AT cooler in the side tanks. I had the side tank off and the AT cooler portion in my hand in 10 minutes. After pulling this out I can see there would be Minimal restriction from the AT cooler in the questioned in the post although.

Re: Radiator
Well I just put in the new radiator, I decided to swap out the non auto side tank from my old unit on to the new one. I would say after seeing the inside of these new side tanks with the AT cooler not to worry there wil be plenty of flow left alone. (pita)
The old radiator I took out of there looked fine, but was about 50% plugged up between the fins. even after pressure washing thing it is pretty well restricted. New rad Day and night difference. Like you guys said.
