Hurst Shifter Installation
Started my Hurst Shifter installation today. I will be ready to remove the gear shift rod pin tomorrow, any suggestions? I have heard this can be a real pain in the a$$.

Re: Hurst Shifter Installation
If you can contact John (phrogs) he put an awesome "how to" post up with pictures and I followed it to do mine with ease. I tried to search for it and could not find it. Try to PM him so he can tell you the link. Maybe he put in on the "other" forum.

Re: Hurst Shifter Installation
Well, I got the shifter in after busting my knuckles a few times and excercising my four letter vocabulary The worst part of the installation for me was wrestling with that stupid rubber boot and the getting that "C" clip clear of pin. The pin itself came out real easy, just a couple of wacks with the hammer and out she came. Thanks again for the direction

Re: Hurst Shifter Installation
Love the shifter!!! The car got me stuck on Saturday in Leesburg after the reverse lockout set screw came loose and I couldn't get the car into reverse...had to push it out of it's parking space I had bought the shifter a couple of months ago, so no better time to put it in...especially now that I'm pissed off!!! Now more reverse lockout WOOHOO!!!

Re: Hurst Shifter Installation
On two of my cars, the reverse lockout is non-functional. There is obviously a way to remove that feature if you want to.
I will be putting a Hurst shifter in the 1994 soon so I may call you for advice. Jim |
