Default E55 AMG

VS. me. 1990 ZR-1, ported intake/injector housings, SSW Headers, RT cats, Flowmaster cat-back and a HAT cal. He is stock and will run a 12.2@118.
We are lucky enough to have a closed off spot to run from 50 to 150 so, that's what it will be. What do you guys think? I think I've got a shot. I'd feel better if I knew what my current trap speed was but, I don't think it should be far off 118.

Good luck with crushing the kraut grinder!
You have the entire ZR-1 brotherhood riding shotgun.
Don't worry, your new headers will give you the edge.

They are amazing cars. He thinks he's going to just run away. He may be right. I know a guy with a WS6 TA. He can run an 11.9@116. I'd never beat him at the track. But, he's never ahead of me anywhere else.

I think it will be close with the advantage to him. The last version of the E55 (2003-2006) had 469hp and 516ftlbs of tourque with a curb weight of 3990lbs. That would be 8.5 lbs/hp. Estimating your car at 410hp and curb weight of 3479lbs, you would also be around 8.5 lbs/hp. The difference comes in tourque, his 516ftlbs as compared to your 400+ and the gearing which an unknown.

Sounds like fun though... good luck!

do you have 410 gears???/i think on a roll race it would be very close either way . i have raced 2 of these at the track and won just bearly both times . your mile an hr should be very close to his . my porting is more agressive than most and have avideo of mine trapping 119.85 on u tube go to joeshmoe12301230 and click on the 12.10 run if you want to ck it out . good luck and either way it goes its just good fun

One disadvantage the MB has is no posi rear... you can take him off the line and just keep hammering. Having owned several AMG models I can vouch these things are fast, but you really have to finese the launch and that cost time.

As long as you blessed them for me before you shipped them out.

I hope that with my mods I'm a little closer to 450chp than 410chp. I made 355rwhp before headers. That should give me around 7.731 lbs/hp now that I have headers. I hope it's enough.

Stock gears for me. I've see your vids before. You're no slouch in that car. Thats for sure.

We will most likely run from a 50mph roll. Truth be told, it's more for my benefit than his. I've been in this car when it was launched from a dead stop. The traction control and other electronics made that car jump out of the hole like wet cat.

With all this being said, I think it will be a good run. I honestly don't know who will win but, I want to find out.

sorry but it takes a good foot and lots of HP to run 12.2 in a ZR-1

the automatic is an advantage. so up top, you'll spank him but in the 1/4 mile, 12.2 is a pretty stout time.

I've seen some stock zr-1s go that fast (dave/jeff/s black car went 12.08 in ideal conditions with Jeff driving, headers only) and curtis

but for comparison, my 508 LPE goes 11.45 @ 127 with folks more talented than me driving. I usually run 11.7-12.0 at 124 - 127

soooooo I'd think twice before you brag too much.

I can't run a 12.2. But, since were going from a 50 mph roll, I'm not worried about my 60' or ET. I've walked away from more than one high 11 second car on the highway before.

I dunno Ron. In my opinion, I'm not going to "spank" that car anywhere.

Oh I have, and that's why there hasn't been any bragging by me in this thread or anywhere else. I'm well aware of what his car can do. I've read about all of Julio's old threads from the other forum and it seems that trap speed is a much better indicator of the outcome of this type of contest than ET. If that's true, than we should be close. If not than my 19 yo Z gets beat by a 3 yo $95,000.00 Benze. That's ok too. Ron thanks for the input, I appreciate it.
