Default Engine Parts

Looks like the prior owner of my block may not be able to locate the head bolts.....was wondering if any knows of sources or am I stuck with paying Kurt White $47 per bolt.

Also will be looking for coolant tubes and an air horn as I move forward.....may need to find head bolts first.

Head bolts are supposed to be used once only, according to the General. Having said that, I know engines have been rebuilt using the same head bolts with no adverse effect.

I' ve probably got a set with special washers (need these too) laying around. PM me to discuss $ if you're interested.

Head bolts are a stretch bolt - Never resuse them - Bad things can happen !! There is a reason why they are called stretch bolts and have a one time use.

I would tend to agree, but have noticed them re-used here on the forum. Is there a supplier for new?

By the way Don, had the 500CLK out this weekend, went to my class reunion in Decatur......took some backroads and the car is great the pull from 50-130+ was amazing, powerful yet smooth. I cannot imagine driving an AMG car, instead of having the AMG event at a delaership they really need to get it out somewhere you can truly drive the car. Good MPG also for a V8 ended up with 25MPG.

maybe we could get a larger bolt co to make some.

http://www.darlingbolt.com/

$47 per bolt
That is an absolute joke of a price I dont care how "rare" it is.
Time to get new ones made.

jm 2 cents.

Lee, I'll give you a shout Tuesday when I return from Atlanta.

BTW, the bolts from GM were 56 bucks.

Lee, Contact ARP Racing - They have all sorts of head bolts. THeir wed site even has a parts request form. 1.866/381-4618. These Guy's are the racing bolt fabricators - I bet they can help.

Had no idea they were that much. Perhaps we should round up whatever torque to yield bolts these things use and get some new ones made so they can be reused. One less thing for everyone to worry about.
