Default 30 years ago in Bowling Green

We watched the "last" ZR-1 being driven from the plant to the museum with
Jim Perkins at the wheel and Dave McLellan riding shotgun. What a weekend we had with many of the ZR-1 development folks. Perkins lived a storied life at Chevrolet and Lexus. A tribute was held in Charlotte by Rick Hendrick a few months after his death.

RIP ...

Is there anyone here who were at the April 1995 event? I still have my coffee cup.

I was there too, Glen, the weekend of April 28-30, 1995. For the little "parade" from the plant to the museum, Perkins wanted to have the lead cars be red white and blue, with the red one being the last ZR-1 produced, #448, that he was driving with Dave. So Larry Merow (founder of the original ZR-1 Registry) was second with this white ZR-1 and I was third with my '93 Quasar Blue. As we drove the 1/4 mile from the plant to the museum, I video taped it with one hand while driving, shifting and steering with the other. It was not the highest quality video, but it was a record of the event. I handed it over to Jim Voter when I sold him the '93 (which he still has) so maybe he will chime in. As I recall we had at least 300 ZR-1s there that weekend, probably the largest gathering we had before or since.--Bob

There were 400 at Carlisle in 1996 ... Larry Merow was hyping 500 but missed a bit. I hope that video still exists.
