Default Hello from the UK! :)

Hey guys!

How are you all doing? I'm Llewelyn, from Nottingham UK and I've just bought a 43000 mile '91 car which has been sat for 18 years untouched on a farm. I'm just starting my restoration journey and have been making some YouTube videos on it

Feel free to find me on there, I won't post a link in case it falls outside of the forum rules but I think I'm the only UK ZR-1 owner on there pretty much!
It is already on the register here from when Will the PO owned it.

The car was originally supplied to Germany and is a Euro car which is quite interesting. It came to England in 2000 and has been owned by the same guy since 2001. I purchased it earlier this year and will be doing a resto-refresh type job on it. What I mean by that is that I won't be completely disassembling it - Instead I'll be slowly restoring it whilst keeping it on the road and driving (unless something huge comes up of course!)

Here's a link to a recent Hagerty article on it which has some pictures:

Cheers

Llewelyn

Hey Llewelyn, welcome. Im the one that's been talking to you on Instagram. Any and all questions you could ever ask can be answered on this site. This is the black 91 that's been sitting for years that someone posted a story about it on the ZR-1 Registry page on Facebook.

I started watching with the first "barn find" video and then moved over to your channel. Definitely subscribed and am enjoying the series so far. You guys are doing a great job! It's neat to see the C4 (and especially the ZR-1) appreciated around the world! And of course there is a significance of the ZR-1 in England... prototypes met their grave there, but some were rescued and revived!

I, too, subscribed several days ago to your YouTube documentation of a black 1991 ZR-1.

I am especially interested in your project being I lived in Huntstanton and Heacham Beach (The Wash) Norfolk, England from 1959 to 1962 when my USAF father was stationed at RAF Sculthorpe. That is Lotus Motorcars country; Hethel, Norfolk, England.

I'm looking forward to your success with much anticipation....

Hi all! Just catching up, I didn?t see these posts!

Thanks for your support with my project? it?s starting to take shape now, rear brake lines have been replaced (fronts okay for now) and I?m waiting on discs and calipers. Once they are done I should be able to drive to the pub! 😁

Annoyingly (off camera) I?m still chasing a misfire?

New fuel pumps, fuel filter, injectors
New coils, leads, plugs
New crank sensor
All vac lines tested and are working
All grounds cleaned including the block grounds
5 gallons of 98 Ron fuel in a clean tank
Code 31 and consistent misfire whether the engine is hot or cold

Frustrating!

I?m starting to run out of ideas now! But I?m thinking it could actually be the cam sensor which may have died when I got the car up to temp after 18 years of being laid up

I?ve got new o2 sensors, map sensor and a new IAC valve on the way. Hopefully I can source a cam sensor (I?ve contacted Phil). If it still doesn?t run properly after all that I might need to borrow an ECM from a UK owner to test? Any ideas?

Love the series thus far!

I'm sure this crew would be incredibly thankful for anything European export specific you can document. The metal identification plate near the right hood latch was one I had not seen before if you would be able to get a close up of that.

Have you been able to setup any data logging aside from reading the codes manually? A relatively inexpensive ALDL -> USB cable, a copy of TunerPro RT www.tunerpro.net, and the 1991 ADX file from the link below should be able to do it. Heck, I'll buy you the TunerPro RT license if you want to try it.

I used this cable for my '94, but your '91 may need the 12-pin version if it isn't the same port.

I haven?t managed to do any proper diags yet - We have a Tech 2 for the C5 but I?m totally unfamiliar with OBD1 and what I?d need to access the data? I?ll read up on the links you sent!

I?ll post the vin plate next time I?m on a computer!

If there is anything else anyone wants to see just let me know

I?ve emailed Phil re cam sensor with no reply yet - I?m pretty desperate to get hold of the part, can someone drop him a message for me? It would be much appreciated!
