Re: Wireless Backup Camera
Garmin BC30 backup camera works with my Garmin Nuvi 2597LMY GPS
Question - has anybody spliced into the backup wiring at the backup light to a backup camera? Thanks, Gary .... |

Re: Wireless Backup Camera
Secondchance,
Appreciate your reply. Would appreciate a step-by-step on how you tapped into the reverse light power so I don't have to do trial and error. Thanks in advance, Gary .... |

Re: Wireless Backup Camera
Secondchance,
Thanks for the info. You answered my question on what to do on the ZR-1 to get to the backup light. Just to confirm, you're reference to the "shelf trim" is on the inside of the hatch area? Or did I misunderstand? Gary .... |

Re: Wireless Backup Camera
I did it, on both my present ZR-1 and previous C5. If you want to wire up a WIRELESS backup camera as you said, you don't have to take apart anything except to remove the license plate holder to access the backup light wiring. I used the driver's side wiring. Just use some piggyback quick wire taps to hook up the 12V to supply the camera and transmitter. There's plenty of room back in there to work and for the wires and transmitter to sit.
BTW, the wireless units work as well as the direct wire ones do and are a whole lot easier and less traumatic to install. Just hide the receiver unit beneath either the driver or passenger side hush panel, your choice. Last edited by mlipmd; 01-20-2022 at 04:09 PM. |

Re: Wireless Backup Camera
mlipmd,
Many thanks for the info. The Garmin unit has a transmitter, that's separate from the camera and would have to fit behind the license plate holder. Was it a problem to get to the backup light wiring to clip on the quick wire taps? Gary .... |
