Nitto NT05 vs nitto 555r II
I need to order tires for my 91 Zr1. I was going to go for NT05 but I see the 555r G2 are close but a little more quiet. I want the best traction + handling, so really I am just curious about road noise and cornering as I will be taking trips to carlisle, long highway trips etc.
anyone who has these your feedback is appreciated. Years ago I went with 555s but I regretted not getting the NT05 bc sidewalls were not as stiff for corners but the traction was great. I do not drive in the rain so I?m not Conerned with wet performance + treadwear as I will Only drive it maybe a few thousand miles a year Last edited by Johnny5; 12-14-2021 at 09:15 PM. |

NT05 for performance with no rain capability. No doubt about it.

Is the ride/sound very loud?
I really am just inquiring about ride noise/quality? Is it that much worse than 555rg2 or whatever its called? |

Re: Nitto NT05 vs nitto 555r II
My wife's car has the Nitto G2s on the front and the 555r in the rear, and that car is significantly better in the same rain conditions as my Z with the 555/555r combo.
My thought has been, the next exchange will be to the G2s - at least on the front (unless there is something better). But, now that we live in the Ozarks (southern MO), maybe it is time to think Mich P2s? Any thoughts?

Running G2's front and back on my '91. Had them on my supercharged Gen5 Camaro as well. Great tire. Good bite and great rain tire when you need it.
