Default Replacement Tires for 1993 ZR-1

looking to replace tires - looks like Nitto 555 G2 or Mickey Thompson Street Comp are my best options - not alot of choices except competition tires and my car will be street driven.

Thoughts

I have the Nitto NT555 G2's and had the first gen before that and liked them. No complaints.

I have had the Nitto 555 G2 for about a year and 1500 miles. They seem to do fine for me. Have been in light rain only, drive at 50 to 60 mph wet. Did a lead follow track day about 45 days ago to test the car, Mark?s tune, the tires, and me.
I seem to be the weak link in that equation. Got tired trying to stay in seat even with lap belt ?cinched?. Tire psi was set at 40 front and 37 rear. Tires did not get ?greasy? during 3, 20 minute seasons at 80% laps. They do flat spot if sitting over 2 weeks. Goes away after the first mile of driving. Drove about 3 hours each way to Carlisle with no surprises or drama. I would say I have been surprised to the upside. I would order them again based on my usage. The car has 419 crank HP and 1/2 decree negative camber front and rear. Mostly set up like a rain day auto cross car.
Good luck with quest!!

I put on a set of M/T street comps. So far so good. They balanced well and are quieter than my previous Goodyear?s. Will be in the mountains with them in 2 weeks is the real test.

Nitto 555 g2 fronts are out of stock everywhere and Nitto doesn?t know when production will start again. Instead, I just put M/T Street Comps on my new (to me) 91 last Friday and they?re excellent!

Not sure if they are still available, but I went with Michelin PS2's on stock A-molds. Stock width up front, 335's out back. No clearance problems.

I'm running the same combo. Rears are a bit wide for 11" rims but Michellins are outstanding tires. Very quite and I assume (never tried and hopefully never will) they are even good on wet.

Doesn't Michelin still make the tires for the 17" ZR-1 wheels? That's what I put on my '95 when the crappy Sumis couldn't be balanced. The rears were 335s, not 315s but the fronts were standard. Got them at Costco for a good price. Even though they are expensive there were really great tires. --Bob
