Brake booster ?
So, I'm bored and have nothing else to do, so I decided to pull the battery out and do a little checking around....I found the cruise control hose was severely pinched and deteriorating pretty bad amazes me that the cruise worked....I followed it back inside the car & pulled it out.
Upon doing so, I noticed the boot on the booster looked a little dampened. I touched it and its brake fluid. Its not dripping or wet, just looks shiney on the bottom. Do I need to replace it immediately or can I hold off for a while?

Re: Brake booster ?
Inside the car, looking up at the brake pedal. The rod that is linked to the pedal, which pushes inward when you press the brake......theres a boot that surrounds it...the boot is a little wet.

Re: Brake booster ?
Sounds like the master cylinder is leaking. Pull the brake master off and check to make sure it is not leaking into the booster.

Re: Brake booster ?
Are you sure the wetness is on the brake pushrod and not the clutch pushrod. When the brake master leaks the fluid usually runs down the front of the brake booster in the engine compartment, the fluid would have to get through the booster to get to the pushrod inside the car. There would probably be other braking problems you would notice if this was the case.
Brake fluid does show up inside the car when the clutch master cylinder leaks since the end of the clutch master cylinder is inside the car. |
