Re: Pilot bearing knocked out my engine plug
The rear crankshaft cup plug seals the lube oil bore in rear main journal. There is another pressed in cup plug located forward of it to seal the other end of the bore.
Image1584498084.240205.jpg The dislodged cup plug should be fished out first before installing a new plug. Be sure to thoroughly clean the rear cup plug sealing area with suitable solvent and install using Loctite 620 and J38837 rear cup plug installation tool according to FSM instructions. Re: Pilot bearing knocked out my engine plug
Isn’t the crank on the front of the block? When I spoke to Haibeck he said it would just drop in the pan. Please let me know if that isn’t correct. I havnt went to put the new plug in yet but will be taking the Tranny out soon.

Re: Pilot bearing knocked out my engine plug
Do you have any thoughts on how to fish this out given that it was a tight seal engine plug that was pushed in. I fear it won’t come out but Haibecks thought was that it would just drop into the pan and wouldn’t be an issue. I appreciate the different thoughts here as I’m not certain what the effects could be if I can’t get it out.

Re: Pilot bearing knocked out my engine plug
Once you have removed the transmission, bellhousing, pressure plate, and pilot bearing you should have good access to fishing it out. Referring to the above FSM page you should be able to turn the plug sideways by maneuvering it to the exit area of the drilled oil passage coming from the rod journal. Then yank it out with a good pair of long nose vice grip pliers.

Re: Pilot bearing knocked out my engine plug
Update:
All torn apart and the cup plug was just sitting there loose. I cleaned it all up and punched in the new one with red sealer. Getting it put back together now. Can’t recall all the torque specs for pressure plate and bell housing does anyone know off hand. |
