Re: 93 for $14k on the bay
I appreciate all the replies and help. I was able to spend a couple hours on it today. Jumped the terminal for the pumps, again it showed 41 and gradually went down to about 35. It would hold pressure fine when not running. The amp draw is about 5amps each. Right where it should be. Checked the volts at the pump, they are good. So decided to put the pumps in that came with the car. The prior owner already tried it, and didnt fix, so I figured I would give it a shot. New in box, airclin pumps, part # is either G5387 or G3251, those are the 2 numbers on the box. I tried to look them up to see if thats what it calls for.. but basically gm style pumps, bolted right in etc. Put them in tried, and same result. 35psi. Pinched the return line, and nothing happened. Everything looked good at the pump. All the fuel lines look good, clamps look good. The 2 to 1 coupler looks good. I was going to try and get a reading before the fuel filter next and possible change the hoses and clamps at the pump to be safe. Any other suggestions? From the book above, what is the pulsator? Thanks again.

Does the pressure regulator hold vacuum if you apply vacuum with a hand pump? Overall your fuel pressure is still too low.

Here’s the first half of the diagnostic tree I posted above. You may want to run through this check sequence.

Re: 93 for $14k on the bay
The LT5 system (vin J) does not use a “pulsator”. Only the L98 system uses that. It’s a misprint in the manual.

Re: 93 for $14k on the bay
I believe it is a bad pressure regulator. Holds pressure so injectors are good. Pinch the return line pressure goes up. Anything else it could be before I order a new regulator? Also they are selling NOS regulators on ebay. Good way to go? Thanks.

I would stay away from the new old stock stuff. It’s still 20+ year old rubber diaphragms. Up until now it was the only way to go. Recently a member here “Jagdpanzer” has developed a solution. I would contact him for one of his “better than new” rebuilds. Check out this thread for details. http://www.zr1.net/forum/showthread....sure+regulator H

Re: 93 for $14k on the bay
Yes. It was the fuel pressure regulator. I then entered the car into barrett Jackson. Big mistake. Lol. I usually have a couple cars in barrett Jackson Scottsdale and Las Vegas. I generally do pretty well. But I lost on this one. It sold for 10k hammer price. There really wasnt anything wrong with the car. That's just the nature of no reserve. It went to Texas. The new owner is very happy with it. I do have another one. A quasar blue 91. I wont be taking that to any auctions any time soon.
