As for the bumpers getting wavy in that area, check the area behind the reverse lights, there is a stud with a nut attached to the gas tank frame that attaches to the bumper there.
When I reinstalled mine putting them in and tightening took out that distortion. so make sure they are there and perhaps adding washers or aome kind of ship there would push the bumper backwards and fix it? also parking the bumper in the sun and leting it get hot makes it pliable. just a guess I have not tried this to see what happens I still have a slight indent where the Corvette badge sits.
