I was about to install the new (to me) engine doing some final clean up and prep in the engine bay when I noticed a small puddle of oil on the pan under the car. Further investigation identified the top pinion seal on the steering rack leaking.
![]() So.... with the high miles on the car...while I was in there.... a rebuilt steering rack is on its way and the old one is out. Hope this stuff stops soon. H ![]() |

I suppose it’s all about frame of mind or expectations. I bought this car because I wanted an extended project. That’s what I got. It’s just funny how things that aren’t a problem one day become one the next. It’s the world of old high mile cars. So from the steering rack back, the engine, clutch, trans, ujoints and diff (rebuilt by the PO) will be new or rebuilt. Also the shocks were done by the PO. A full suspension rebuild is next winters project, tho it’s good for now.
