Default 6 way power seat

Any one have experience rebuilding their 6 way power seat? Was moving it forward today, heard a loud "craack" and it will not move forward or backward any more. The other two functions seem to work fine. Is the assembly rebuildable?

Thanks for any advice.

Common problem.
Probably the rack that makes it go back and forth
The plastic gears strip, couldn't find replacement gears but
I'm sure they're out there somewhere?
Rebuilt ones are available, the whole assembly
just unbolts from the seat.
can't remember the company's name??? Hey, I was born
before 1950....
Got mine at Carlisle, think it was $200 + core.

Seat problems: the retract on the seat belt's the
next thing that's gonna crap out. It won't pull out of
the retractor.
There's an open safety recall from 1990, GM still
has to honor it because it's a safery item. They did both belts, in
my '89 when it was a year old (and screwed it up, but that's a story
for another time...)
They agreed to replace mine in my Z a few years ago,
but they couldn't find one the right color in their "system"
I found a NOS one still in it's unopened package in a Chevy dealer's inventory, but they wouldn't pay for it because it was out of their
control for several years... I guess a Chevy dealer's parts
room isn't part of their "system"?
I got sick of screwing around with them and just bought
a readily available used one. Gotta give GM some credit,
they tried...

Doug,

The good thing was the seat went after I got home from judging it on Saturday. Worked fine there. I have the same open recall for both sides. Local dealer said they would have to contact GM for availability. Looks like I need to find a 1990 gray interior wreck with upgraded belts.

Thanks Doug,

Was looking for a source for the gears to rebuild it myself. Zip has a rebuild service.

All we need is someone with CAD skills and a 3D printer
