Default Are we including new ZR1 on this board?

All,

Is this board going to be the de facto forum for the new ZR1? If so, what are we doing to promote this?

From what I have heard. No. But that has not been set in stone.

I think we should, builds on the legacy of the car. Also would give us more leverge at events and bring back recognition to the 90-95 cars. I think the fact that GM chose the ZR-1 name based upon the heritage and the fact that it represented the best that GM and corvette had to offer means alot.

Its kind of like a frat house, they're in because they're a legacy.

Frat House is fitting since there are a few of us on double secret probation.......Mr. Jeffvette

Well, I'm beyond double secret probation.

I have heard both arguements for and against, and I see what each side is saying and understand why.

My personal opion is no, as they are really not that special in a unique way. I would love to have one, but it just isn't a 90-95 ZR-1. Just as the 90-95 ZR-1 isn't the same as the 70's ZR1.

How man other vettes came with a factory blower? This is like your best friend naming their son after you and then telling him you won't be their godparent because they may not live up to your expecations........200mph vette...that's special!

This was a special project car as was the 90s Z.

I am not 100% sold on the appearance, don't care for the hood,as it doesn't showcase the engine, and the wheels in chrome I can pass on....but performance wise

The only thing in common is the RPO code. There's little to no technical commonality. The forum and community is excellent for helping people out with problems, performance, etc. There would be no cross-over in this sort of thing with the new car.

Other than being fellow 'vette owners, I don't see the point? And there are plenty of forums that cater to all fellow 'vette owners already. My two cents.

Default Cross-pollenation...a good thing?

This board is (for all practical purposes) pure C4ZR-1 - a "clearing house" for all things that are C4ZR-1. So, including the new Z will dilute what has been a "pure" forum. But, is that such a big problem? Or is the benefit of joining forces with fellow Z drivers in the name of promoting the Zs weigh more on the plus side than giving up the "pure" forum venue? Would not excluding ourselves - i.e. forcing "them" to their own forum result in further isolation or even obscurity for the C4 Zs?

At the moment I'm leaning toward including the new Z. I'm not at all sure it would be necessary or even beneficial or may be possibly detrimental to not include them. Think of how much fun it will be to swap experiences and learn more about the new "KOH".

Just a thought.

JMHO but we all would welcome them as vette owners and even maybe a bit more so due to the "RPO code" as Bob expressed.....but we don't have anything else in common except for vette ownership.

As Bob also said, we and they get no technicial benefit from each other....same as us and the LT-1/C3 guys.

Just a thought from the peanut gallery, me If they all showed up at our door because they felt more kinship here than anywhere else, we would not turn them out into the cold....right?......let's just wait & see what developes.
