Back up light switch - ZR-1 Net Registry Forums

My back up lights stopped working about 6 months ago. It finally dawned on me that my years of leaving car in reverse gear may be causing back up light switch to failure. So, I ordered a new switch from Corvette Central and started to leave the car in 1st gear instead. A new switch showed up but was holding off installing it since I will be replacing the flywheel in near future.
This morning backing out of my parking spot, I noticed by back up light on rear quarter light up. I leave the key in “run” position, walk to the rear and, sure enough, all my back up lights are working!
Leaving the car in first gear at park and cycling the back up switch periodically must have freed the mechanism in the switch…
I recommend not to park the car and leave the gear shift in reverse position.
