Tools needed for ZR-1 maintenance
Z Factor, move this to the new section when it gets created.
These are the tools that no ZR-1 owner should be with out. These are the common everyday tools that will make your life much simpler. 1) Factory Service Manual – This will be the best 125.00 you will spend in maintaining your car. It will be your bible. Mark pages, index it and get to know it. 2) DVM or Digital Volt Meter – Essential in working with electrical problems. 3) Paper clip – Yes a paperclip. This little 2 cent item will be pivotal in helping you retrieve those codes. I leave mine in the center console just in case I need it while on the road. 4) Vacuum pump – Self explanatory… Secondary system Now onto the other tools, these are tools in addition to your normal mechanics set of standard and metric sockets and wrenches. Also make sure you have a adequate torque wrench in ½” and 3/8” size. I’ll break this down into sections. All tool part numbers listed are Snap On. Transmission: 1) 17mm Hex Socket # SAM17A or CPT110A 2) Fluid transfer pump (putting new oil in) Engine: 1) Long T40 FTXL40E2 for OEM bolts on the plenum. If you have the stainless socket head bolts you will need FAML6E. 2) Long needle nose pliers to help with connections under the plenum. 3) Oxygen sensor wrench SWR1 or socket S6176 4) Fuel pressure gauge. Differential: 1} 9mm “L” shaped Allen key 2) Fluid transfer pump. (taking old fluid out/putting new oil in) Last edited by Jeffvette; 12-03-2007 at 03:53 AM. |

Are you saying to have a spare vacuum pump on hand?
Thanks, Bill

Re: Tools needed for ZR-1 maintenance
Wally World, about $8.00.
Sorry guys, I was referring to the fluid transfer pump not the vaccum pump.
