Default High Oil Pressure?

what is the norm? for oil pressure? I noticed that mine seemed a little high when I was driving around on Tues. however after I was driving for about 30 mins or so the pressure dropped down. Just wonder what the normal pressure should be

Mine does exactly the same thing. I was a little worried about the 15w-50, but it seems to be fine once it warms up.

Mine is the same though it stays slightly higher now since I put the PurePower oil filter on it - which is expected because it filters better and adds a little more 'restriction'.

why do you use 15-50 .does your car eat alot of oil ? you might want to ck on line on some tests on the power loss when using heavier weight oil. i believe it costs almost 10 rwhp compared to 10 -30. mobil one also has come out with 10-40 syn which might be a better comprimize. hope this helps

Shaun,

I use 10-30 Castrol GTX. When motor is cold pressure runs at about 75-80psi then drops to 60 once oilo warms up.

BTW, you planning on coming the 20th at Byron. Should have about 4-6 ZRs there if weather holds.

There is a load of information on the pure power site (www.gopurepower.com). It's basically a washable re-usable oil filter with a lifetime warranty.

Expensive, but I thought my Z deserved the best and it looked like it was going to be a pain getting oil filters up here anyway.

Vette magazine also did a write up on them, last year I think, with positive results (http://www.vetteweb.com/tech/vet_050...st_oil_filter/ ).

They didn't list a specific ZR-1 filter last time I looked, but I emailed them and they came back with the right specs, I've had no problems at all with mine and it's comforting knowing that I'm getting good filtration. It's also amazing how much rubbish that it pulls out on the first couple of 'changes'.

I hope you're bringing the Z. What were your times and trap speeds from the last time?
