We are a definite maybe at this point. Three in a row has a nice ring to it. George, all info remains the same.

Say! One of the nicest pieces of equipment I used last year was the rear hatch window "link" that I borrowed from Robert. It allows me to have the windows down w/o my ears being buffeted, cool air flow, and if you want to hear the song of your (C4)L83, L98, LT1, LT4, or LT5 without rattles ... this thing is the "beeze kneeze"!!

Mid America Motorworks, $34.00 shipped.

I highly recommend it!

If you want a good route to 6 Gaps with a couple of legs of 6 Gaps I have a suggestion for you to consider. Try this LINK. Looks like its 144 miles / 3:16 time. Then from Dillard to Gatlinburg is 82 miles / 1:55 staying on the 4 lane (K will be driving her SUV and I doubt she will want to do any of NC-28 north of Franklin. If this route (or similar) looks OK to you we could do lunch in either Franklin or Cherokee or even a late lunch in Gatlinburg. FWIW, this route takes you by the Atlanta Motorsports Park as well as the Georgia Racing Hall of Fame in Dawsonville. Decent roads/scenery, a bit out of your way, but worth it IMO. I haven't driven at the Motorsports Park but Russ goes there on a regular basis ... perhaps he will chime in.

The most direct mountain route from Kennesaw to Gatlinburg is HERE and is 189 miles / 4:00. Not many twisty-turnies but very scenic from Blue Ridge to Cherokee.

Plenty of time before deciding final routes/rendezvous points, etc. If we can coordinate a caravan from the Dillard area (or points north) that would be great. I'm guessing that my earliest ETA for Gatlinburg will be around 2 PM, later if we stop for lunch. I want to get in early enough to re-acquaint myself with the hotel parking lot, access, traffic flow, etc. Gatlinburg can be a bear with heavy vehicle & pedestrian traffic at certain times of the day but this can usually be worked around by choosing which streets/traffic lights to take.

I hope all the links work ... won't know for sure until I post this and then try on another computer w/a different browser.

That is the exact route that I was looking at, If I leave by 8:30 AM I should be in Dillard by 11ish pending local traffic, with it being mothers day that will give me an hour leeway.
Russ, What do you think?

Kaye suggested lunch before the final leg and reminded me that the Valley Café in Dillard would be a perfect lunch stop. The location is on the left just before the Chevron intersection. From there it's about 2 hrs to the hotel.

Hope you will change from "definite maybe" to "confirmed" ... be good to see you again. If you're pretty certain go ahead and make your hotel reservation (info earlier in the thread) and double check the cancellation policy (just in case). And when you're absolutely certain, let me know ASAP (email is good).

Ready to book, but have a dilemma. Would anyone be offended if I choose to drive the new car? Working on the break in miles now, will be ready to go.

Where 'bouts in IA? Ami and I are going, live just south of I-80 in IL; leaving on Saturday and driving to E Kentucky for the night, and continuing onto Gatlinburg on Sunday. If you (or anyone else from IA, MN, WI, MO, or along the way want to caravan, POST UP!

Mountain Run 4 is almost upon us...

I sent confirming emails to all participants this morning. If you are joining us for MR4 and did not receive an email, post here, PM me, or email me ASAP so that I can add you to the list. We should have a great group this year ... looking forward to enjoying those mountain roads once again.
