or did you remove the old pumps which are connected and nylon tie new pumps in that position? And/or nylon tie the new pumps together into the original position where the old pumps were removed?

Re: Fuel Pumps
Pumps came in on Thursday.....they have this rubber type cover on the pumps, I imagine this is the norm. Are these covers for shipment purposes and need to be removed prior to installation?
On the shelf they go......

I made sure to use metal worm gear clamps in place of the plastic ones I removed. The nice thing with the new pumps is they came with a new pigtail. When I was positioning everything around, the plastic push in piece on the old pig tail broke, and I was able to take it off the new wiring and put it on the old set up.

Re: Fuel Pumps
Since there are so many different applications for these pumps, some may require that rubber insulator. In order to utilize them in the existing fuel pump assembly, they must be removed.

Re: Fuel Pumps
Well, I finally got a chance to put a few miles on since the new pumps, and so far so good, they work like a charm. As of right now, I would recommend these pumps to anyone needing to replace their old ones. They also seem to be almost as quiet as the stock pumps, and that I like.

Re: Fuel Pumps
Can I add some advice based on what I've seen in my car this weekend?
If you're thinking about replacing pumps, you might want to consider new wiring also. I discovered two separate problems with mine. The plug going through the plate has an issue, and also one of the fuel pump plugs. I repaired mine, but soon I'll shop for new GM wiring and go back in to get it back to new, stock.

Re: Fuel Pumps
I'm glad I had a couple of buddies over lending a hand. After we fixed my initial problem and about to put it all back into the tank, one of them suggested a final test of the whole assembly. Glad he did because we found a intermittent loose wire in a pump terminal. Wiggling the wire caused the pump to run and not. Very glad I had a chance to fix it before it had a chance to cause havoc later.

Re: Fuel Pumps
OK, so I'm happy to report that I took the car on a road trip to my folks' house last weekend (about 260 miles round trip) and the pumps operated flawlessly. Anyone looking to replace their pumps should check out these ones as they are pretty inexpensive (...and they've lowered the price by $1 since I bought them) and they seem to do the job.
Best part is that with the cruise and AC on, she pulled down 23.2 mpg. Not bad at all. Now to tackle the noise in the transmission (throw out bearing, I suspect).

Re: Fuel Pumps
Great info as always. Not to hijack the thread but a few years ago I bought a new sending unit from THE PARTS LADY and I've always thought this was an OEM AC DELCO part. After reading one of the threads from 2009 and a failed pump in one of these from the same supplier,is the set I have unreliable aftermarket junk? Thanks again for the rest info here, I'll be adding a set of these ROCK AUTO pumps to the Z stash.
