Default LT5 Headers

I'm seriously thinking about putting SS long tube headers and an all SS exhaust on my 95 Torch Red ZR-1 (50K miles). Will installing the headers require me to raise the engine to get them installed?

you'll need to raise the engine to get the factory manifolds loose and it sure helps to make room to pull the dipstick if you can go up about 3/4 inch off of the motor mounts. Putting the headers on after the stock stuff is removed is a lot easier and you can reach the fasteners much more easily.

I've got a '90 and didn't lift the motor. But, maybe I should have as Mike suggests, cuz I used up a whole week's allotment of cuss words in about 4 hours! (I did remove the inside fender panels - which I guess is mandatory I suppose.)

I built a bracket to secure the dipstick, once the headers are installed. You'll see when you go to reinstalling yours what I mean. (If you're handy fabricating little stuff, it isn't hard. But, I have some ready-made. if you want one, PM w/ your address.)

Just about anything that adds HP will benefit from a recalibration of the PROM. Marc Haibeck or Corey Henderson can fix you up with a revised calibration PROM (which can be further enhanced to provide some additional operating enhancements as well).
