Do they sell a hideaway front plate for the ZR 1? - ZR-1 Net Registry Forums

I live in NY, which requires me to have a front plate..

I'm not ruining the look of the front of the car by covering
The Corvette insignia with a license plate...

Are there any companies that sell the hardware to mount
The plate to the bottom side and can be electronically
Controlled to flip up or down?

I know corvettemods.com has one and I'm sure I've seen them in the other catalogs, as well. The pics I've seen all have them on C6s but I don't see why they wouldn't work on our cars too. The one I've seen is an electric deal that works with a little key fob device.

Ditto to Chris's comments above im sure they will work however their target audiences are the C6-C7 groups at the moment. Aparently nobody drives C4s anymore

I'm in New York, and my hideway solution is to not worry about it. My front plate (which reads "1992 ZR1" ftw!) is sitting behind my driver's seat, not on show, and the front just has the stock 'CORVETTE' placeholder.

I have not had any problems with it, and AFAIK it's only a minor misdeameanor ($30 or so, I think) that incurs no points... so not really bothered. Many other local 'vette owners do the same, and they have had no issues either.

But....... if the car is parked on the street in NYC, then you will get ticket for it (revenue raising), if it's off-street / garaged, then I wouldn't worry about it.

I just trimmed a bit off of my front plate so that the cover fits over it. Figure if I get stopped I will plead that "I had it covered for a show and forgot to take it off, I have a screwdriver in the console if you would like me to remove it sir".. Depends on the cops mood at that point...

That's a very clever approach. I'd guess that it beats the 'behind the seat' and hope the LEO is understanding. I'd think any device that is used to make the mounting 'visible on demand' electronically would only aggravate a LEO.

I have been running one plate on all my cars for years now only got ticketed once when I was parked. But get yourself a PBA card just in case you get pulled over
