Default One of our own on TV

I was flipping channels the other night and landed on the History Channels "Counting Cars". They were doing a Mustang build and were touring the Shelby museum. I immediately spotted a familiar face, our very own ZR-1er Gary Patterson was giving the tour. Brought back some great memories of the Vegas ZR-1 gatherings from years past. Gary hosted a super BBQ at his house and took us on a private after-hours tour of the Shelby facility. Many of us were also lucky enough to be in the passenger seat with him while lapping at Spring Mountain. I had no idea what the real capabilities of my car were until I let Gary take the wheel, I was absolutely terrified the first lap but that quickly turned to exhilaration and awe at his amazing driving skill. Good times!

I agree, its just hard to organize a gathering without a few locals to help. And west coast people need to
at least attend if not get involved. Spring Mountain is relatively close, as is the LV dragstrip.
Shelby (Gary is now a STAR), Karts, and obviously there is plenty of entertainment at the casinos.

And Loco, I remember seeing my first plenum pull in the Spring Mountain parking lot. A new coil was
found at a local chain auto store in Pahrump.

Constantine is still in Vegas & even organizes car events for hire. There are still several ZR-1 drivers around there to help him. He would know all the answers to getting this done.

I'm a big advocate of making LV a Registry annual event. We have "nothing" for the western half of the US.

Yes, a lot to offer in Vegas.
1. Spring Mountain @ Parumph
2. Lots of Gathering facilities; banquet rooms, hotels & catering
3. Drag Racing in North LV
4. Autocross in N. Las Vegas
5. Road tours for sightseeing, poker run, etc.
6. LOTS for the girls to do, shopping, casinos, etc.

Hey guys, you really got the blood pumping on this thread. I made the trek west in May to spend three days with a C7 at Spring Mtn, and the only thing I regretted was not having my ZR-1 to lap the track. I'd certainly be up for a western swing to Pehrump and Vegas if someone local were run something up the pole.

I'm game for a Registry event in the Las Vegas area, depending on the time of the year.

I remember that plenum pull! Certainly nothing an AutoZone part couldn't fix, right, Loco?

As for a LV gathering, the hurdles I see are Spring Mountain and scheduling around Carlisle and BG, as we don't want to have to compete with the attendance there.

It's not hard to schedule for drag racing during the bracket season here, there's a big Auto X group that races on many weekends, and road trips are certainly plentiful.

We did some road course racing with Jeff Blonder(Lapping Days) at LV Motor Speedway, I know he is now in Salt Lake, but is that course available vs Spring Mtn?

I looked into that a few months ago (the track there, anyway), and they were way more expensive than Spring Mountain.

I can look to see if there is a lapping days event we can join. I remember running on that track. Didn't get the speed we got at Spring Mountain, but certainly may be a more reasonable alternative if we can find an event and lock down a date. I'll do some poking around and see if he's still doing those.

Good idea!
