You know, I really like Hugger Orange; I think that would go good with a black car.
Do some photo shop colors to see what you like. |

Its a subjective subject. I would search out the motors you see here and other places. I still have pictures of Deshlers Callaway with the polished motor... it pops. The only drawback is you have to keep it polished and getting into certain areas is kinda tough to do.
Here is some gel coat on mine from the mid 90s. I am amazed at how well it continues to hold up after 15+ years and a 100 K+ http://www.96lt4.com/ZR1/rane91.html

How about "brushed" aluminum on the whole engine, instead of the usual mirror polish.
I like the idea of accentuating the all aluminum nature of the LT5 by using no paint at all. But the shiny, although beautiful, polished finish mimics chrome, which IMHO looks a little too flashy in the ZR-1 engine bay. Would a brushed aluminum finish be as difficult to maintain as a polished one? Hey Ted, pardon my ignorance, but what's "Gel Coat"? Red powder coat on an LT5? Bob
Gel coat is what the guy called it when I bought the car in 03. When I think of gel coat I normally associate that term with boat hulls. It appears to be like a super tough powdercoat. All I ever do is wipe it clean. It has never discolored, peeled, or faded and it has to be at least 14+ years old.

Well Red Wrinkle PC done, plenum goes back tomorrow for another coat....the wrinkle turned out to be very difficult to get a consistent texture. Obviously this is everything just sitting on top the engine, not bolted down.

Interesting. Just wondering how that would look with the cam covers done also, with black lettering.

I like it a lot, but I would polish the flat on top to match the cam covers. Maybe leave the red crinkle finish in the inset part. I think that would provide better contrast. JMO
