Default smoke

I am gettng smoke coming from the pass side of my engine. it looks like oil might be dripping on the manifold. when I took the wheel off for a closer look it seems that it might be coming from the dipstick tube has anyone seen this happen? is there a bolt that might cause a leak if loose? or could it be cracked? how hard is it to replace if needed?

It's difficult to tell from the photos (and difficult to photograph I'm sure), but it looks like the rubber grommett and dipstick may have gotten pulled out of the block. It may be as simple as removing, cleaning & correctly reinstalling. The rubber can become swelled and require replacement. Worth checking.

do I have to take apart the any of the suspension to get to it? I haven't crawled under the car yet to see where the tube connects to the block.

This is Dominic. We met at Byron and I have the 84 Xfire. I'll be joining you here when I get my 92 Z from Texas. BTW, the 84 is for sale in case you know anyone interested. Hope you fix the oil leak.

I pulled the dipstick tube out and didn't see the seal I cleaned the tube off and without thinking that the seal would be in the hole of the block I put the tube back in. I started the car and it ran fine a lot less smoke ( almost none) I still want to replace that seal but now I am worried could I haved pushed the seal into the oil pan when reseating the tube?

Great news, and certainly worthy of it's own thread in the General section. Of course once you get it post some pictures.

Shawn,

I got a stock 92. The LPE was terribly tempting. Its back on ebay right now. Mine is the same color Aqua but with Gray not black interior. When I get it you should take a ride up to Bartlett.
The first pic has the plates I am going to get for it.
