Default C4 ZF Hurst shifters

hey experts

I would love to add a Hurst Shifter.... It is very inexpensive to buy, but how hard is it to install?

How many hours would it take a novice?

Any input would be great!

Thanks!

Best mod going. A little tough with the stock exhaust (if you leave it on) but can be done in about two hours the first time. Phrogs detailed it great on the other forum. Do a search and look at the pictures. You'll love it! Ted

I NEED to install a Hurst shifter...the stock shifter is dogcrap. I might get the urge while I'm down in BG and just get it done there.

The Hurst is a great stick and well worth the bucks. A member of the ZR-1 crowd worked with Hurst to get it engineered properly. An advanced search for hurst shifter on the CorvetteForum.com will turn up a lot of threads, including the install procedure Ted mentioned above.

How/who/where were you planning on getting it done in BG? It's not something Gordon Killebrew would do, maybe VanDorn but depends on how much socializing is going on.

Great mod!!

No you won't. there will be a hundred cars, drag racing, the museum,
the plant, dyno'ing..seminar's, banquets, road tours, poker runs
and just plain fun.
and YOU think your gonna spend..2 or 3 hours under your car?
Hey Peavs maybe you should start wearing you're helmet, full time.
or, maybe it's too late...you got 2 weeks. Mid american Motorworks
would have the shifter to you in less than 4 days...do it before you go.

best prices for the Hurst?

I see on the zr1registry it is $135 shipped...

Is that an incredible price or does somebody else have a better price?

Thanks!

That is a good price. I paid more for mine a couple of years ago. One of the best mods on the car.

Yeah, I kinda wondered about the feasibility of getting it done down there since it'll be crazy busy for those guys....I think I may just have to wait until later this year when I get more time.

You're right Keith, it's too late for the helmet the damage has been done....I'm trying to get an exemption from track so I don't have to bother wearing one for the drags.

I'll probably slag through the BG trip with the stocker...but it won't last the year if i can help it.

the hurst has the best overall "feel" for me. if anyone wants to go back stock, I have 3 stock shifters. bill boudrea "cuts them down" and retreads them which also works very well.

as for installation. two words, Joe Malo

it's a pita without a lift, the little pin is a bugger too. I'm too lazy to do this kinda stuff when joe does such a super job and is very reasonable.

put the beam plates in too. let me know if you need them.
