Default A/C Blower Fan

Im researching on how to get more performance out of my Blower fan so I can get more vent pressure. now while investigating I found that the red wire on the blower resistor got very very hot (depicted in the picture). Is this normal or is this a sign of a relay going out? I cleaned the motor and fan and oiled the motor also and still no improvement. Is there a upgrade I seem to remember someone installing a suburban blower motor once but I cant find anything about it.

Generally speaking blower performance from a C4 blower isn't an issue, the pitch and number of blades accomplish that. Your reference to a different motor I believe could be a C3 related issue where later motors were used BUT a change of the fan/squirrel cage and a ground correction would accomplish the same. I would check the quality of the ground to the motor maybe even do a separate ground. Blower speed is governed by resistance. Your connection seems to indicate substantial resistance. Hi-blow is a 12V direct function.

If the valves/doors are functioning correctly in the blower/ac box and distribution assembly it's a blower motor performance issue. Put 12V and a ground only to the motor. What now?

Check for leaks at the evaporator housing and even trash in the evaporator fins. There is a filter on the face of the evaporator. #7 this image is a filter:

Id try replacing the blower fan if its never been seen too before. I had a blower issue on mine I could bang the outside of the suitcase housing and the pitch would increase. The blower fan is a $50 and 1 hr job to fix. Keep in mind that little motor and the squirrel cage have been running for over 20 years. It might just need a refresh to return to normal performance. Also while you are there clean the quirrel cage and vacuum out the suitcase free of dirt, leaves etc. GC
