I tried it again and it won't fit. It can be forced in, but it bends the plastic piece. I think I can make it fit by making a groove or channel in the flat surface of the device. I would guess that I need to remove about 3/32" of material.
![]() I think the plastic piece is there to make it easier to center the strut into the tube when closing the hood so I wouldn't want to remove it. |

I have a 91 with the orange plastic piece. Mine fits fine BUT I have to raise the hood just beyond the stopping/resting point before it will slide into place. No problem. Just raise the hood about 1/4" more and slide it into place before you lower the hood back to the final stopping/resting point..
