Exhaust question again / different
OK looking at the SW X pipe , wouldnt a H pipe do the same thing ? I mean instead of putting a bend in the 2 pipes and welding them together , couldnt I just blow a hole in the 2 pipes and weld another pipe in between? technically I could put 2 or 3 holes and sections of pipe in b/t ... I'm ready to get this part of the car done , the mufflers go tomorrow to be coated. 2.75 stainless tubing is $10.00 per foot. 4' will do the X or H pipe ='s $40.00

Re: Exhaust question again / different
I ve always heard the rule for H-pipes is that they should be 2/3's the diameter of teh rest of teh exhaust. If you run 3" tubing, the crossover should be 2".
But yes, cross overs/H-pipes and X-pipes effectvley do the same thing. Sometimes if the headers collectors are the same diameter as the exhaust tubing, the H-pipe serves to terminate the tuning effects of the collectors. If collector diametr is the same as the pipes after, the collector length measurement would end wherever the H-pipe is. peace Hog peace Hog |
