I got the DEI kit that includes 2 50' rolls of the wrap, 1 can of high heat paint (choice of colors) 4-14" SS ties and 8-9" SS ties. The 9" ties don't fit around the pipes so I was forced to use one wrap at each side of the resonator and just use the 14" ties at the starting and ending points. Started at one end by a muffler and crossed to the other side and back to the other muffler, then started at one of the head pipes and crossed to the other side and back to the opposite head pipe. I used 1 roll (50 ft) of the DEI wrap with about a foot left over. Then I painted everything that wasn't wrapped, even though the DEI instructions said to paint the wrap. I didn't have enough paint to do the wrap and the pipes too.

If I was to do it again I would get the following:
1 - 50' x 2" roll DEI Wrap $39.88
1 - 15' x 2" roll DEI Wrap $13.88
2 - Cans DEI Hi Temp Silicon Paint $6.95 EA
8 - 14" SS Ties (4 /pk or 2 pks) $7.95 EA

Total would be $83.56, just slightly more than the DEI kit of $79.95, but this would be a much better way to go as you would have plenty of material and wouldn't have to push it like I did. I did get the job done and that is what matters. Hib did an article on this, Corvette Action Center, I think it was called Silent Power or Quiet Power. He has some good pics of the wrapping on there and recommended the DEI as an alternative to the Thermo-Tec. Don't use the Summit wrap, it is cheaper but is only rated to 1250d, the DEI is rated to 2000d.

As far as changing things, I never paid any attention to the heat generated so I can't comment on that. From the inside, the common faint howl that is emitted from the stock exhaust has been intensified. I like it and I don't have the resonance everyone talks of. All in all it was a very nice mod and I can't wait for the Dyno test results from Steve.

With the addition of the chip the car idles better, is crisper and you don't have to worry about remembering to turn the GD key on. Of course I am sure I am the only one to forget that right .

I will post when I have driven the car more and gotten some track times to see if it helped there. That will be just after mid April.

Will do Marc guessed at about the same gains when I talked with him. I will be happy if I pick up a solid 20HP

Ted (Demps)....Ted ran the right foot for me on my first dyno at SGC back in 02

All of this talk has got the mod bug biting me hard....must..resist...(until bank account can support it).

As for mine, I've got the Haibeck prom and 3" straight exhaust on mine. I hope to make it to BG and get her on the dyno there.

That's easy for you to say Keith, with the mods I want I'd have to permanently go on Stalin's Gulag diet....however....I'm 60% sure I'm BG bound, will know for sure within the next week.

BTW, what did your black beast dyno at last year? You can pm me if you're too embarrassed to post it here.

I have some Xmas money burning a hole in my pocket; am considering the Flowmasters. Was this a pretty simple bolt-on or is cutting and / or welding needed.

Thanks

The kit is a straight forward bolt on. Just get some better clamps such as http://www.jegs.com/webapp/wcs/store...53274_-1_11527 remember you'll need one in 2.75" and the rest in 2.5".

Talking Re: Flowmaster and Chip Installed

What Quasar and Jon said. It took about 6 hours but I installed it, tightened the clamps, removed it, wrapped it, painted it and reinstalled it. I tightened the clamps with air and broke only one clamp. The fit at the back of the radiator (I meant) resonator was a little loose but there was no leak. Nice deal for the price and combined with the Haibeck chip, should add about 20 to 25 horses.

If you do this exhaust and want part numbers let me know, I would be happy to help. Order the chip from Marc on Monday and it should be there by Thursday at the latest.
