Didn't the 405 cars use a different profile for the cams? Wondering if that would affect the gains you would experience w Pete's cams. We know that Dave J. ( a 94 AB) is in the 430-440 rwhp range, depending on exhaust, w Pete's intake only cams and full porting. BTW, I am
using 15% parasitic loss.

With the 4:10 rear end will it keep you below 150 mph in the 1/2? Any references to compare it to for your own expectations?

I can say that on the hypothetical 2.3 mile stretch mentioned above that it does not seem to take 1/2 mile or much over to get to the speeds I'm fantasizing about and I reference 3:45's and more or less stock lt5 that's just been chipped with Samco hoses and K and N air filter only so you should do way, way better.
I trapped at 121+ mph last fall in the quarter mile on 3.45s. I'm guessing I'll be in 5th gear in the half mile run. So, it is going to be interesting. Hopefully the air will still be cool on the 2nd of June. (Fingers crossed!)

Yeah, I'm the weeny of the group when it comes to high speed (100hp +). Let's say when I was younger, I played with the triple digits at will. These days, I just like the awesome FBI power and sound with all the low end torque at short bursts and rowing through the gears.

Yeah, I'm not sure about the cam profile difference. Based on 15% loss I'm at 496 chp and I'm pretty sure I'm making more than that. An engine dyno is the only one way to know definitively what the chp is. Otherwise, it's just a guessing game. It doesn't really matter, anyway. The only thing that matters is what it makes at the ground.

My short term goal, like Paul, is 440 whp. Long term, I'd love to see 450 whp. I'm just not sure we can get much more out of a 5.7L. That's monster power out of 350 cubes. I guess we could swap out the pistons, raise the compression to 11.5 or 12.0 to 1 and run high octane fuel. I wonder what that would net? Someone much smarter than I probably already knows.

I'm with you. At this point in life I still enjoy a high speed run but it's like I don't need as much as I used to to feel satisfied. The acceleration, though. That is a different story. I just can't get enough of that. That, for me, defines Permagrin.

We know that a stock block 350 can put out 474+rwhp or
~ 560chp. That's Pete's car.
At consistent 129mph trap speeds, I'd say its a pretty realistic number.

That's ported, relieved, larger tb, no secondaries, sleeved, higher compression but naturally aspirated. There is one fellow, Wayne Hale who you may know, who has one of his three Tennesse Z's with two custom turbos on it which is Way, Way higher than those numbers. If natural aspiration, one thing, forced induction another and higher. Question is: how much is enough? I'd argue for 550-600 chp is more than enough. Got to kepe wheels in contact with the road making progress too.

I'm talking about NA stock block numbers. I actually wasn't sure what all Pete has done to his so I couldn't reference his car. That is quite impressive.

Just to clarify, Pete never "sleeved" his motor. I'm not sure what that is unless someone is describing install of new cylinder barrels. Bottom end had 70K on it. I'll let Pete describe the rest if he'd like. But it is pretty impressive for a motor technically under 350CI. As we have been saying in this thread, these motors LOVE to BREATHE!
Once you get beyond 5.7L, there's still N/A motors but w 427 or 441 CI with that kind of hp+ AT THE WHEELS.
