Default Re: Computer fans in inner fender.

Im wondering how these fans hold up to moisture. Computer fans are not known for being all weather or sealed for that matter. I too would like to see this setup if possible, GC

Low speed in town traffic cooling. Also I have mine so they stay on after turning tne engine off to reduce heat soak isues under the hood.

Ask and sometimes you get:

I used a aftermarket fan controller and thermostat sensor and mounted them in the drivers side lightwell. I glued the sensor to the radiator frame with silicone rtv. (I used this method on an earlier car.)
I used a harness with an adjustable pot so I could hook it up hot and control the fans after turning off the ignition. The harness I used can control 2 fans so I used one ckt for one side the second for the other side.

I used 3 inch fans from radio shack, a 3 1/4 inch hole saw.(I
tried a 80mm fan and it is too large.

Drilled 3 holes

used a automtive plastic repair glue. You can use bolts or glue but you have to grind the ears off one side of the fan.

Labels are in wheel well.

Glued up.

Tyler I fixed your post for you so the pics would show. I have added the last one here with your text as only six pics are allowed per post. GC

A lousy picture of the drivers side using one 80 mm fan.

The fans are 33 cf per min so 90 cfm each side when done.
Its an attemp to provide some kind of flow through the engine compartment when in slow traffic.
