Default Another little suprise.

This is probably why I've had dash light disco instead of beach blanket bingo. I kill myself sometimes. Lol!

Man that connector crumbled like king tuts underwear. Seems like 80% of the time the Oriellys right down the street has everything I need. So it was time to install a new plug.

Just like factory new now.

I was hoping to be close to done tonight until I had to take car of the alternator plug. Oh well.

I have had to replace that too while you are there might as well check alt and replace belt and tensioner. these items tend not to enjoy high revolutions. And these parts are fairly inexpensive. I would at least test the altenator and make sure you did not damage a diode.

Hoping that's heat-shrink tape and not just electrical tape (which tends to degrade with time/temp).

Humbly suggest that those splices sure look like good spot for some good old fashioned tin-lead solder.

Also betting I should take a look at ours - another point to inspect...

Best of luck,
- Jeff

Nope just electrical tape. Wraped each wire then wraped all three together and stuffed them back in the main. I'm not worried about it because honestly at some point that whole wire harness is gonna have to be replaced. All those wires in the loom are as hard as a rock and just plain wore out. The engine compartment is a harsh enviornment for wires. The wire harnesess everywhere else are in great shape. But that one that the alternator plug comes out of sits in a part of the engine thats exposed to the most heat.

Heat shrink is a quick and easy thing to do. Better safe than sorry. JMO
