Clutch Master Cylinder Resorvoir Empty / Cap Stuck?!
My 1991 ZR1's Clutch Resorvoir cap is stuck and the resorvoir appears to be empty. Does anyone have any other ideas on removing the cap that I've tried turning counter-clockwise with my hand and a large wrench? I am concerned about breaking the plastic resorvoir. I tried pushing down while turning, all to no avail.
Also, my car has just 3,700 miles and came out of storage, so what should I look for as the cause of fluid loss? The clutch operates, but first gear and gear are somewhat cranky at times. Last, what do you think about using Prestone synthetic Dot4 Fluid when I finally open this and flush and refill the clutch resorvoir? Thanks in advance for the help.

Push down on the cap and rotate it 1/4 turn counter clockwise then peel it up from one edge.
It might have developed a vacuum inside from the loss of fluid. My advice would be to not even bother trying to open the cap and re-filling the reservoir. You have a leak. It will not magically go away. It will get worse and strand you somewhere. You will not be happy. Replace both the master and slave and be done with it. TomC 'Crabs

I think you just need to turn harder. There is no trick to it. Give me a call and stop by. We will get it off.

Re: Clutch Master Cylinder Resorvoir Empty / Cap Stuck?!
Wow,I finally got the cap off with a wrench and managed not to break anything... Turns out the resorvoir was overfilled, not empty and lack of airspace caused vacuum stuck cap and clutch issue. Issue now resolved with clutch bleed and flush. Car still a bit tough in first sometimes, but owners manual says this can happen and to lift up on clutch slightly and depress to engage first.
