Morris IL Cruise June 11th!
OK you bretheren south of I-80 (especially), who is going to be at the gathering to cruise in together for the Morris Cruise Night? (see East Central Region site for more info). This is one of the best all-round car cruise nites in the area. Cars in the thousands, food and drink available, LOTS of stuff not only for Corvette nuts, but general automotive (car) nuts in general. ALWAYS a good event!
So far several have expressed interest. Jim (Jimmac) and Dom have said they will be attending. See the East Central page for details and updates! Paul.

Re: Morris IL Cruise June 11th!
Looks like a fun group! Below are those that have indicated they will make the tour and event so far -
That makes 8 so far. I have to let the organizers know today how many ppl will be attending the Morris Cruise Night afterwards so they can set aside enough reserved parking spots for us! Note: If you don't do the roady before hand, or arrive at the Cruise late, just tell them you are with the ZR-1 Net Registry club and they'll direct you to our parking area. But! Be sure to let me know ASAP if you intend to attend so they'll know how many spaces we're going to need. K?So, if ya think you'd like to come, either for the tour or just the Cruise (a la "park n brag"), post up, y'all!! P.

Re: Morris IL Cruise June 11th!
Still having some "after glow" from the Cruise last night!
Only 3 Zs made the "tour", and we had to deal with some road closings (flooding in spots along the river route!), but I know I had a great time!! We did find a couple piece of road with some "10 mph" turns in them (Yeah...RIGHT!) and some nice straights with gentle curves to "air things out a bit". With all 3 Zs having "aggressive exhaust" systems, hearing them accelerating through wooded sections as a group was giving me goose bumps . My Z was running very strong in the cool air - just whack the gas just about anywhere in 1st and the GY D3s came loose every time, and a quick shift to second - same thing. Sounded oooh so nice! We stopped at Cajun Connection in Utica for a quick refreshment (Dom will have to tell ya about the Jumbolia (sp?)). I had a bite of it, and it was...well...think I know where we might go for dinner tonight!! Intended to cut back to Morris on Rt 71, but it was flooded. So, we made a like a parade and drove through Starved Rock - a very pretty drive...and some nice downhill tight turns**! **Note on the GY D3s I got a little deeper into a corner than I had expected - using up some of my margin for error. The D3s stuck like glue all day, but for that one time. However, when they did yield, the transition to a slight drift and back to full traction was seamless! Got back to the Morris Cruise and pulled into our reserved parking spot. What a treat to see 6 ZR-1s at that event: a first for sure! As usual, most casual onlookers didn't realize they were looking at some very serious Corvette history, EXCEPT for some "youngsters" stopped to gather around and point and call friends over to show what they had just found. The terrible threesome - still hot from the run just finished. My red 90, Dom's Black Rose, and Jim's car (love the ZR-1 splash across the hood, Jim!) Dave Johnson showed up later with his fresh Pete the Greek tune on his turtle. Geeeze! What a wicked sounding turtle it is now! And that top end paint job just puts the frosting on the cake! It's gonna be interesting to see what that makes on the dyno. Also, "Harley Bob" brought his black Z, and Jimmac with his red 92 and its trademark 49th Street Rockers - very cool. It was a great time. Wish more could be there - maybe next time! P.

Re: Morris IL Cruise June 11th!
David and I made it back to Maryland Sunday evening after a nice drive back. Perfect weather and not too much traffic. We stopped in State College, PA to look around Penn State, where we both went to school.
The visit to FBI-land was fantastic!! Thank you to Paul for coordinating this great event. Thanks to Dom and Pete for the hospitality and the tuning lessons. It was nice to meet Jim and see Harley Bob again. All the ZR-1's looked and sounded fantastic: The cruise through the Illinois country side was the highlight of the trip. Thanks Paul for the effort of planning the route and being our leader. I really enjoyed the opportunity to burn up some roads with you guys. Jim |
