Default Autocross

Anyone do the autocross, I'm sure it's a stupid question. We're having practice this weekend at Hawkeye Downs in Cedar Rapids Iowa on Saturday, I'm thinking of doing it since I never have. We have some guys in the club that are pretty serious about it.

Hey, give me some advanced notice if they have more in CR...I went to college there and would love to go back and visit and come see some autocross in action, even give it a shot myself if possible.

Cool stuff

I do autocross but prefer DE's. But when you can?t make the long haul to a track or it just doesn?t fit into the schedule autocross is still a good time.

On a separate note; I was signed up for the autocross at The Gathering next week and they canceled it due to ?Lack of Participation? I guess not many at The Gathering don't do that anymore...

Probably will be some informal autocrossing in the parking lot of the Holiday Inn after a few beverages....

Will do Lee, I'll check the schedule and let you know when the real thing is happening. I know they are going to have it at the national deal in Chicago this year.

Do it. ZR-1's are a blast in an auto-x. I take mine to every event I can.

I was wondering the same thing myself, not sure how fast you get going on the course. I guess I will see this weekend since it looks like the weather will be nice for once.

Yes. I run most of the courses we have down here in 2nd. There's only been 1 course I could run in 1st, but I was still tagging the rev limiter at a couple points and you have to be VERY careful with the throttle...really easy to blow the tires off accelerating out of a corner with the LT5 at 5k+

If you haven't run many short course races, it'll probably help for you first couple runs to short shift into second and just leave it there so you can focus on your lines through the corners and not over power the rear tires too easily.
