I am no expert, but realistically to make this car a nice driver someone is looking at spending 10k+. (I more than know about all the add-on, while you were in there costs) More if there are other issues pre-accident. Then you will have 20k-25k into a car that is possibly carrying a salvage title that you could move for 15k-18K.

Obviously if you are a paint and body man you might have considerably less however the end result is the same.

The car as a whole isn't worth much right now, but the parts are...
I agree with Dennis. Just because its a ZR-1 its not worth loosing your azz on plus its a salvage title car. About 5 years ago I saw a wrecked 2004 ferarri 360 spider for sale that had been hit in the drivers side front which looked totally fixable. It had 10k miles and they were asking $40k for it. At the time I had the means to aqire it. Fix it up and sell it or just keep it. But I don't know anything about them or the price of the parts so I passed.

well the more that get parted, the more yours should be worth in the long run I would think. Besides, it is another parts bin for those who need to keep theirs on the road. Sometimes cars going the way of the buffalo is not a bad thing.

I wanted to say that too. Makes my car worth more twofold. Less cars, more parts.

When it comes right down to it, you are absolutely correct. Hate to see them go but you're right, a new parts bin.
