I always wondered if you could un-bolt the centers of 3-piece wheels without taking the tires off. Did the inner/outer barrels separate at all?
Looks like CCW Classic 18's? |

When I installed tires and had to swap the centers form the inside to outside, I removed the tire valve stem core and let all the air out and swapped them like Craig is doing with no issues.. Craig, you are either cleaning or polishing them

WOW I was under the mistaken impression that when one takes the wheels apart like you have, that you have to then heat the barrel before you could get the inner back in. Cool that you don't have to do that!!!

Re: Talking about wheels, guess what I'm up to?
Hi Gang,
Sorry for the suspense. Last night I just thought to send a teaser out there after taking apart a few of them. Well, the real deal is after 5 years or so of not really being happy with the look of these CCW Classic on my Z I decided to finally do a color change. I did not like the bling look for some reason on my red 90 with a lot of black trim. I pc'd the stock wheel centers and really love it so decided to do the same with the CCW. I had a hard time making the decision to ruin a perfectly polished CCW wheel. Initially I wanted black centers but did not like the choice from CCW after consulting with John (owner). Black was like a anodized dull black as you have seen and I did not like that. The gloss black centers with 85 (black) center caps on my stocks looked so nice so why no do these too even though it has a similar look. The bolts will remain chrome as will the lip so I think it will look killer with the polished Carter center caps. I'm dropping off to the powder coater this AM. They did an awesome job with my top half and driveshafts as well as the stock wheels. It will be gloss black with clear coat. They are very easy to split as shown in video and mentioned here by members here. http://www.ccwheel.com/files/incs/te...air_video.html Just a gazillion bolts to carefully remove once the air valve is removed to ensure all the air is out. No requirement to split or dismount tires and I marked exactly where and what wheel to put each center back on with the valve stem as reference. I will still take them in for rebalance after assembly since I have not done that since new. Gotta run so will post more info soon. Craig
