Default Correct NGK for a 90-92 Car?

Dropped in to NAPA to pick up new PCV valves. Guy in front of me was buying plugs, which was on my "to do list".

I tell the parts guy NGK Iridium for a 90 -ZR-1 and he gives me the NGK 7164. This has the wrong seat and is for 93-95 ZR-1.

On the NGK site they indicate stock # 5464 for a 90, but I have seen people here use the 6341. Which is the correct NGK for a 90?

Thanks

I had bought 5464's flat seated $8.30ea, from X-L parts here in houston. after week or so I went back to 41-602's. I still have the 5464's, I know there pull outs but if you want em I'll send em to you.

If you don't need to buy Iridium plugs, I use the
NGK V Power plugs, either the BKR5E or BKR6E depending on the heat range your motor needs. I have found the 7E a bit too cold.

Luis

Thanks for the offer.

I'm runniung 41-602's now. I see most people prefer the NGK irridiums.

Why did you pull the 5464's?

Glenn

Hey Glenn,

602's were in the car when i got it and i had put tapered 913's in it by recommendation but she had other running issues back then so I never really knew what was working good or not. It wasnt until recently I changed out alot of parts and took out the 913's and put in the ngk's in on recommendation, she was finally running decent enough though we couldnt figure out what was causing hesitation, at that time I decided to go back with the 602's by recommendation and there was a real improvement in the hessitation, she ran better but I still had a cyl#4 issue kinda still do but based on everything we've done we all agree its fuel injector/tune related now.
I dont think that the ngk's were a bad idea, they just didnt work as well for me on my lt5, thats all, They also have very small points in the electrode area that I didnt really care for which the 602's had alot more meat in that area. I'm sure there are more tech words describing the plug LOL.

If it hadnt been for the advice from this forum I'd still be shooting in the dark. I dont beleive I will ever change plug types again though, I'm very satisfied now with the 602's. Still be happy to give my ngks to you, but if your like me you probably want brand new to make sure.

its weird cuz alot of the guys use them and they work great. I think maybe its just the differences in ea lt5 and ea of there conditions.

oh sorry for the delay in responding.

Hey Luis

You definitely had a number of things beyond the 5464's going on.

I'm going to take the 7164's back to NAPA tomorrow. I'd be happy to buy your near new 5464's from you. Can you PM me with price for the plugs and to ship them to 98281?, I can Paypal you.

Thanks

Glenn
