I would like to know if the FSM's instructions are accurate about using Di-electric lube as a heat transfer layer on the mounting surfaces?

I use heat sink grease. Which is what was applied from the factory.

Why are you replacing the module Tom ? They VERY rarely go bad.Don't use Di-Electric grease.

When & where are you doing it ? I need to see more ZR1's. Ever since Phil moved out they are like hen's teeth around here.

I used Dow Corning 340 heat sink compound. I've read that compound doesn't last forever either. Or put on too thick and bend the module if too tight. Maybe I worry too much.

Dittos again, and just ONE little tube is all ya need. Be keerful ya don't get sand or other debris on it. Just a grain of sand can interfere with heat transfer to a significant degree.

Okay, one more Q. I was thinking that I have a tube of ArticSilver 3.4 grams. That's a heat transfer compound used when you install your processor's heat sink.....is that the same or similar to this Dow Corning 340? Would an auto parts store have this D/C 340?

I hear you all about the antiseptic conditions needed upon application & reassembly. No dirt & clean surfaces!

Frank, I don't really know that my DIS is bad. I have a 42 and I ran the diagnostics four times, even using a spare ECM and still come up that it's either the ECM or the DIS or a bad ckt 238(?) wire. I just needed to know what all I need to have on hand to do this job as I can't stop once I pull the plenum. (Working out doors is a PIA on some stuff, last time it started to rain on me!) I have to finish & get the car back to the barn, fixed or not. Can't work in the barn as they installed cameras now.....I think they caught on to my mid-nite auto, Inc.......besides I'm getting tired of not having a ZR-1 & Kerbecks Toys for Tots is next month and I already signed up to represent the brotherhood at the event.

Tom you are not only one.. I also have code 42 and after diagnostics it looks that DIS is bad..

On my diagnostic chart I ended up at the conclusion that I posted. If by luck my DIS is not bad because I bent one of the pins and/ or haven't seated all my plugs in my haste to get out of the rain.....I will PM you and we should be able to come to an accord about my spare DIS box that I have no pressing need of.
