Default Bolting torque convertor LT5-4L60E

Hi Guys
Can you help?

I'm going to fit an LT5 to an 4L60E and think I could have problems bolting up the torque convertor because there is no clearance to access to the bolt holes fixing it to the flexplate. The end of the drain pan is about 1/4" to the vertical face at the end of the engine.

My question is :-

If I removed the drain pan could I easierly access to flexplate holes and bolt the torque convertor up correctly? ( the corvette manual i has diagrams showing this could be possible but would like reassurance that it really does work as it directly effects whether an auto is viable)

Or is there another solution?

Many thanks

Steve
