Talking BLOWN MOTOR

Now that I have your attention, I am curious about how many have had actual problems with your motors. I haven't seen any post here mentioning a lost motor under normal driving circumstances.

Post up if you have had a problem, I'd / We'd love to hear about it.

Over the last 4-5 years I've seen lots of bad fuel injectors, coils, vacuum leaks.
A couple of blown head gaskets from using the wrong coolant.
At least two (maybe three) instances where the secondary throttle plate retaining screws got sucked into the combustion chamber and damaged pistons and heads.
There was the infamous "Lake Car"... I seem to remember that it had engine damage. Of course, taking your ZR1 swimming at 70 or 80mph will do that.

Years ago I remember reading about a white car that broke something, parts of the valve train came through the cam cover and maybe through the hood.

not too many engine failures on stock engines. quite a few "tuner problems" with liners, cams, ect...

I know of 3 or 4 engines that either ruined rod or main bearings.

I think at last count 5-10 engine failures out of the builds (not too bad percentage wise huh??)

hard to sort out the true failures. some were caused by under or over filling the oil.

and yes, quite a few cam failures, especially with the aftermarket stuff that wasn't done right. the stock engine is dead nuts realiable under most circumstances.

I think it can survive 24 hours at WOT without coming apart.

It would be interesting to see the record broken by the new ZR1.
