Ugh... However, other than that it looks like you had a blast! I'd love to drive VIR some day, it seems like such a scenic place. Good to hear the 'Z represented itself well.

Any pictures of the ZR1's running?

Sorry to hear about the windshield but glad to hear the car performed well. I'll bet it was a real blast. I'm not a good enough driver to say conclusively that the brakes are the weak link on the track but I've lived the problem. I thought about a brake upgrade when I had the car in Chicago but it seemed any type of significant improvement would have been big bucks.

How did a stock ZR-1 do in the straignts against C5 and C6's (non ZO6 and ZR1s)?

Depending on my lines and speed, I had no problem passing C5, C5 ZO6s and straight C6s. My instructor is probably still laughing - he had me running a very good line through turns 3,4,5 and out to the short uphill straight beginning with turn 6. I could carry good momentum through there, made several good passes including C6 ZO6s a couple times(!) and believe it or not one new ZR1. (he MUST have been on a warm up lap or missed a shift, but hey, I'll take it. We had a good laugh about it, because he blew by me at probably 160 on the main straight.) Main thing is, you never what the other driver might be doing. Learning a new line or watching his temp gauge. You give and take. They do a great job of stressing safety. There is no shame in getting passed and letting people by. It is a bit overwhelming at times. Things happen fast. I had my own "agricultural moment" on turn 14. The Red Sled saw grass, but we survived.

I'll find some shots of teh ZR1s on the track. These were some I took during tech inspection.

Here's one of a new ZR1 on the track. Found it on "another" site. Both the C6 ZO6s and ZR1s sounded amazing.

Last one I swear. This is video of the RedSled heading down the front streatch at VIR at about 120 or so. My friend Jon is in the black ZO6 passing several cars in the second scene. He was as fast as anyone in our rookie "green" group.
