Splash guard suggestions?
Have a set on my car now that look too big.
Any feedback on these: https://www.mamotorworks.com/corvett...-guards-602296 Or are there a better setup that looks clean and still gets the job done? The ones on my car now look like they belong on a Mack truck

Re: Splash guard suggestions?
It's just my opinion, Splash guards don't belong on any Corvette especially a wide body like a ZR-1.
Sorry if I offended anyone but its my opinion. Mike P. |

Re: Splash guard suggestions?
I have them on two of my ZR-1 color matched on one but I have aftermarket wheels so they look small on my cars

Re: Splash guard suggestions?
Agreed!
With the advent of Paint Protection Film. the need for the guards has changed. While guards might minimize the need to clean by containing dirt and dust within the wheelhouse, the film actually does a better job of protecting the finish form road rash. Some go all the way, wrapping the entire car in clear as opposed to say a ceramic treatment. This film is amazing stuff!, and often nearly unable to be detected unless you march right up to it. I just make them out of cleat plexiglass. You really don?t see them. You may have to make new ones over time as stones and sand will pit them and then you will see them.

Re: Splash guard suggestions?
Having used both PPF and Ceramic my personal experience is the exact opposite of the above posts.
The X Pel has not yellowed in over 4 years on multiple personal cars of mine. We have had it applied to dozens of customer cars with zero complaints about yellowing. I have removed it from 4 cars of various colors after years of application for panel repair. No discernable difference to where there was film vs. no film. While you may have had different experiences, those are factual examples that I can cite form personal experience. Ceramic. I believed all of the hype. Did a couple of my cars. They looked great. Then I had a customer present with a scratched door on a car that had been ceramiced. The paint and body guys still curse the stuff. The entire panel had to be sanded to remove it which prevented a simple dust and blend, and it was difficult to re-do the door with ceramic once repaired to have it match after the ceramic was applied even though the match was spot on beforehand. I know there are ceramic zealots out there, but I am no longer one of them. It takes hours with a high speed wheel to burn it off if needed. I will pass thank you, but those are real world experiences not folklore. I no longer discuss politics, religion, oil or coatings with friends, but wanted you to know those actual experiences and facts. Marty |
