Default Black tag vs Blue tag speed sensor

So, the good news is I got the Black tag out and the NOS Blue tag into the 90 today (thanks to Jerry's special transmission tools ), but I did not even think to check the speed sensor, the 90 wiring harness will not plug into the speed sensor on the blue tag and it appears to be a different type sensor and maybe different tail housing. What would be the solution here? Would swapping the connector on the 90 to fit the blue tag work? I would like to button this project up tomorrow if I could get some quick ideas from those that know. Thanks and Merry Christmas!

Well, despite the visual differences, the old speed sensor fit into the new transmission...is there any issues with that? Anything else to consider with the swap?

Just swap the sensor and the gear inside and all will be good. I put a '96 Blue Tag in my '90 and it works well.
You will need a later style shift boot because the blue tag doesn't have the reverse lockout lift ring.

Thanks, that is what I was trying to verify, I knew about the shift boot.
